CS seminar (CSC 781) will meet this Thursday, November 5, from 3:30–4:30pm in Manchester 17. Dr. Turkett will discuss research opportunities in a presentation titled “Understanding Systems Via Sequence and String Analyses.”
Abstract: In this talk, Professor Turkett will present research opportunities relating to understanding systems for which we can observe data from those systems in sequence and string form. The primary domain of application will be computational biology, though the general ideas should be amenable to a number of other domains. Thesis and project ideas relating to algorithm design, classifier development, and software implementations will be discussed.
Challenge pizza and drinks will be served
The seminar course is an opportunity for you to learn about possible thesis (graduate and undergraduate-honors) and project topics. Note, the seminar series does not require any preliminary work or prerequisite courses. All CS grads and majors are welcome to attend!
