Dr. Turkett, tell us a bit about yourself. Where were you born and where have you lived?
The first half of my life was in South Carolina (Columbia and Charleston), and then I moved to Winston-Salem after graduate school and have been here ever since.
What are a few of your favorite activities?
I love to travel, read, get together with family, and have some quiet down-time at home. I like to watch anything on the Food Network also!
What is something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet?
I would like to spend an extended period of time (months) abroad.
What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
Nothing unusual but during college in the late 90’s I worked for a small company that helped get internet-based banking off the ground.
What is the most important life lesson you have learned to this point?
The importance of listening.
Why a Computer Science Professor?
I really like teaching and the process of developing learning experiences (in the classroom and through research), plus there is an excitement in learning new things about the world through research!
Best thing about WFU?
The people for sure! The beautiful campus is great too (and all the coffee shops on campus is a bonus!)
