Information Technology in the Non-Technology Universe

Abstract: In today’s high tech internet company world of Google/Alphabet, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the like, what is information technology like in a company whose business is not to build and sell IT? This interactive presentation will explore the realities of the technology used in established manufacturing firms, and even provide some examples you can relate to when you visit some of the “big box”  retail stores. The realities of implementing software and hardware in a manufacturing firm will also be explored.

Biography – Steve Riggan: Steve has over 30 years experience in industry using, building, and implementing software and hardware solutions various in  firms including General Electric, Metaldyne (an automotive Tier 1 supplier), JB Poindexter and Co (truck body manufacturing), and WestRock, a manufacturer of packing materials and promotional displays.   Steve’s background includes building systems from scratch, implementing ERP software packages, and leading business operations and IT organizations through significant change.  Steve has a B.S degree in Finance from Va. Tech.
