A talk on UUV robotics  and the science behind them. Explore the   challenges of building and controlling robots at the bottom of the ocean!  Learn about research being done to help protect the environment as well as the use of UUVs to protect our country from threats.

Dr. Mathieu Kemp has a PhD in Physics and was the PI for such programs as Transphibian and Sandshark. He was also the director of concept development at BLUEFIN ROBOTICS. Dr. Kemp has recently accepted a position at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute to head the UUV Persistence Lab.

Captain Dennis Haines, USN (ret) commanded the nuclear submarine USS Topeka(SSN 754) and is also a manned deep submersible pilot. Additionally, as an Intelligence Officer he headed the assessment group at the Office of Naval Intelligence. Operational experience includes operations of UUVs. He is currently working for Battelle Memorial Institute Maritime Systems as Undersea Account
