Highlights of student and faculty research activities are included below.

2024

2023

  • Faculty member Dr. Grey Ballard is quoted and cited in a June 2023 Communications of the ACM news article titled Better Algorithms Through Faster Math.
  • Faculty member Dr. Xueyuan Vanbastelaer is participating as a mentor during the summer of 2023 in Wake Forest’s LEAP Program which provides hands-on STEM experience to high school students.
  • Student Yimin (Michael) W. has received a SC23 HPC Immersion program award, covering expenses to attend the SuperComputing 23 conference as well as targeted training in high performance computing.  Yimin works with faculty member Dr. Natalia Khuri in the DataMine Lab.

2022

2021

  • Undergraduate Nathan W. (CS BS ’23), a member of the DataMine@WFU research group, has been selected to present his single-cell research as part of the at the 2022 National College Research Conference at Harvard University in January 2022.
  • Undergraduate Konghao Z. (CS BS ’24), a member of the DataMine@WFU research group, was selected to participate in the HPC Immersion Program at the 2021 Supercomputing conference in St. Louis, MO. The award covered air travel, a stipend for meals and incidentals, housing, and Technical Program registration, including Workshops, at SC. In addition to technical talks, Shelton participated in hands-on training sessions, networking and career panels.
  • Alumnus and visiting instructor Sarah P. (CS minor ’16, CS MS ’20) and undergraduate Nathan W. (BS ’23) discuss their research on the University’s DEAC Cluster as part of their work in the DataMine@WFU group led by Dr. Natalia Khuri in these two videos:
